After Surgery
• You will be taken to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit after a general anesthetic. After you wake up, you will be able to join your family in the Postoperative area until you are dismissed to go home.
• Specific instructions will be explained by your surgeon and the nurses; written instructions will be sent home with you. We feel that discharge teaching is a very important aspect of your care and contributes to a successful recovery after your surgery.
• Do Not plan to drive yourself home or use public transportation after surgery. You MUST have a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
• One of our nurses will call you the day after your dismissal to inquire about your health. DO NOT wait for this call, if you are having any problems, CALL YOUR DOCTOR OR GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM.
